Depending on the type of pathogen, IMS can be bacterial, viral, mycotic and unexplained etiology. Most often, with IMS, representatives of the Enterobacteriaceae family are sown, and among them Escherichia coli (E. coli), the proportion of which, according to various authors, ranges from 40 to 90%. A multicenter study of ARMID conducted in various cities of our country in 2000-2001 revealed that in 57% of cases the causative agent of community-acquired IMS in children is E. coli, in 9% - Proteus, in 9 - Enterococcus, in 9 - Klebsiella, in 6 - enterobacteria, in 6 - Pseudomonas aeruginosa and in 4% - staphylococci. In the course of the domestic multicenter study DARMIS (2011), it was found that E. coli is the causative agent of IMS in 63.5% of patients, while the frequency of its release does not differ significantly in patients with uncomplicated and complicated infections.
