Contemporary issues of civilisation and sustainable development in the information society

The article deals with contemporary problems of civilization and sustainable development in the information society, among which the main ones are the problem of poverty, geopolitical and technological risks. It is shown that these global challenges of the XX century, which seemed to have a formational dimension, have taken on a distinct civilizational dimension in the information world of the XXI century, in which area the main conflict of our time - between industrial and post-industrial civilizations lies. One of the most notable manifestations of this conflict in the modern world is the confrontation of competing Western and Eastern civilizations, each with its own mental characteristics.
