Modern problems of the functioning of the film industry in the context of an integrated approach

The article examines the key problems of the practice of functioning of the cinematographic industry in modern conditions. Using methods of analyzing statistical data, studying and summarizing qualitative and quantitative characteristics from film industry professionals and based on comparative analysis and modeling, a list of key factors in the existence of a problem field in the development of cinematography has been identified. Based on a retrospective analysis, the historical features of the development of film exhibition infrastructure were investigated and various approaches were compared to identify the representativeness of the data. For a number of problem areas, the results of a comparative analysis of foreign practice are presented, confirming the relevance of the topic in terms of identifying the problem field for the subsequent development of proposals for its leveling. A review of the profitability of the film business and a selective assessment of the economic efficiency of film projects implemented with government support was carried out, and indicators of the share of national cinema in film industry models with active development were compared. Among the remaining problems are the continuation of illegal distribution of content and the continued demand for high-quality script material. The urgency of the identified problems is added to by the challenges of modern times, which significantly affected the state of the film industry during the pandemic since 2020, after geopolitical events since 2022 and in connection with the development of artificial intelligence technologies. The author proposes to consider the identified list of key problems within the framework of an integrated approach to the development of the film industry as a social institution.
