This article States that the process of family transition from traditional forms of existence to the development of market structures of life is extremely painful. The state of the economic, socio-demographic and psychological disadaptation of the family unit following the instability of society becomes chronic. The desire and attempts of families to adapt to new developments and constant changes taking place in society, determine changes in the institution of the family. The presence of ideological and moral vacuum in society, the loss of historical consciousness, patriotism, sudden change of spiritual and moral interests in the material was the main reason for the unstable situation of the society in General and families in particular. So today the scientific rethinking of the family is a necessary condition for effective solution of the problems of family policy.
