Modern trends in the planning of socio- economic development of the territory: spatial aspect

The paper is devoted to the analysis of strategies for the socio-economic development of megacities of the Russian Federation in terms of the availability and elaboration of their spatial development issues. It has been established that at present there is no single understanding of the spatial development processes, these processes are understood and occur in different ways in each city. Modern versions of the strategies for socioeconomic development of the largest cities of the Russian Federation are divided into three groups according to the elaboration of their spatial development aspects in this work. A proposal was formulated on the need to adopt common methodological approaches to the formation (development and updating) of socio-economic development strategies of megacities, including spatial development issues in order to unify and improve the effectiveness of strategic planning processes in the Russian Federation is formulated.
