The article examines the features of the modern approach to financial support for small and medium-sized businesses in Russia, carried out at the state level. An analysis of the current situation in the SME sector provides an idea of the specifics and prospects for the development of financial support for this sector. Taking into account the goals of SME development until 2030, key instruments and areas of financial support for the sector have been identified, as well as recommendations on areas for further research in this area.
