Modern approach to prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anemia in children

Anemia in children in most cases is iron deficient and is caused by a deficiency of iron in the body, arising from violations of its intake from food, absorption in the intestines or excessive losses. The occurrence of anemia, in most cases, is preceded by the occurrence of a latent lack of iron, which is considered as a functional disorder and is expressed by a decrease in the reserve supply of iron in the body and a decrease in its level in the tissues, with the absence of anemia. The main cause of iron deficiency anemia, according to WHO - is an unbalanced diet, poor in iron. Much less frequently, iron deficiency anemia in children develops due to various bleeding, (this anemia is called chronic posthemorrhagic, or due to helminthic invasions (in regions with a low culture).
