A modern view on the diagnosis and treatment of acute intestinal obstruction in geriatric patients (literature review)

An analysis of the literature of foreign authors and authors of the CIS countries on the main problems of diagnosis and treatment of acute intestinal obstruction is given. The most common cause of small bowel obstruction is adhesions that form after surgical interventions on the abdominal organs. All pathogenetic mechanisms of acute intestinal obstruction and intra-abdominal hypertension exacerbate each other and, acting on gerontological patients, aggravate the existing somatic pathology and lead to a complicated course of acute intestinal obstruction, severe postoperative complications, often leading to death.
