Formation of cannula-free tracheostoma using super-elastic thread from titanium nickelid

Treatment results for 65 patients with post-traumatic and tumor stenoses of larynx and trachea were analyzed. The technique of forming cannula-free tracheostoma using super-elastic thread from titanium nickelid (TiNi) was designed and applied to 35 patients. The control group consisted of 30 patients who had conventional tracheostoma. The formation of wide stable tracheostoma using super-elastic thread ensured adequate respiration of patients without tracheostomic cannula. The presence of cannula-free tracheostoma provided an adequate voice rehabilitation improving the life quality of patients. The indications and contraindications for formation of a stable tracheostoma were determined.
