Establishment and activities of the all-Russian public-state of children and youth movement “Movement of the first” (based on materials from the Irkutsk region)

The article explains the formation and early activities of the new mass children and youth organization in Russia, Russian Children and Youth Movement, called “Movement of the First”. The author focuses on materials from the Irkutsk region, as examining the regional dimension helps to better understand and analyze the diverse work conducted as part of the transformation of the children's movement in the post-Soviet space. The relevance of the topic is primarily due to the significant importance of this issue in contemporary conditions and the need to summarize the rich scientific, methodological, and pedagogical experience in educating the younger generation accumulated over the past decades in various regions. The article outlines the main goals and objectives of the new organization, with special attention given to the development of its regional structure. Additionally, the study attempts to systematize the primary areas of activity of the Russian Children and Youth Movement “Movement of the First” for the first time. The author concludes that the structure of the new organization shares several similarities with its predecessors but also identifies several advantages that could, over time, make the “Movement of the First” a full- fledged successor to the legendary Pioneer movement.
