Creation of ecosystems as a driver for development of the banking sector

The most important driver of the banking sector development is the formation of ecosystems by credit institutions. Banking ecosystems are characterized by dynamism and flexibility, which allows banks to change taking into account the needs and preferences of their clients. The article examines the stages of the evolution of banking structures: from performing basic financial functions to creating ecosystems, as well as the distinctive features of organizing banking activities based on the ecosystem approach. Based on the study of the opinions of foreign and domestic scientists, the existing approaches to disclosing the economic content of the definition of “ecosystem” are disclosed, and possible types of building banking ecosystems are systematized. The authors propose structural elements of the banking ecosystem, substantiate the key principles of building modern banking ecosystems. The successful practices of Sberbank and T-bank in creating their own ecosystems are considered in detail.
