Creation of processors based on RISC-V architecture - an opportunity for innovative and competitive development of domestic microelectronics industry enterprises

Today it is impossible to imagine any sphere of life in which microelectronics and microprocessor technology would not be used. The products of microelectronic industry enterprises are in demand not only in any computers, smartphones, cars and household appliances, but are also important in production management systems, industries, government agencies, the economy and society as a whole. The sanctions imposed on Russia after the start of a special military operation have posed difficult challenges for the microelectronics industry, the solution of which is the key to the security, competitiveness and technological sovereignty of the state. The article presents a brief description of the current state of the microelectronic industry and identifies the tasks that need to be solved. One of these tasks is the further development of such a direction as processor engineering. Despite the fact that domestic enterprises have had some success in creating processors, for example, Elbrus and Baikal, the task of creating competitive processors, including those on the world market, is very urgent. At the heart of this very complex and time-consuming process is the architecture, which determines the performance and compatibility of the processor with software. The article proposes the use of RISC-V as an architecture for creating domestic processors. Despite the fact that the RISC-V architecture is not domestic, domestic competitive processors can be created on its basis, with the help of which entry into the international market of Russian innovative information technologies, and therefore microelectronic industry enterprises, will become a reality.
