Cohabitation in a premarital relationship: overview of recent research

The article analyzes the publications of recent years devoted to the problem of cohabitation. It is determined that this problem is relevant, such areas of research in the context of cohabitation were identified: works devoted to the study of the spread, characteristics and moral and ethical assessments of cohabitation in different regions of Russia; legal aspects of the regulation of cohabitation; cohabitation as a socio-demographic phenomenon, factors of its popularity and possible social consequences, the article focuses on the last direction of research. The main reasons and factors for choosing cohabitation are considered, it is revealed that cohabitation can be not only a stage of premarital relations, but is also increasingly being considered as a full-fledged replacement for official marriage, which is especially true for young people.
