The specifics and the grounds of the mass musical culture of the XX century

The scientific relevance of the article is determined by the holistic consideration of the mass musical culture of the XX century as a part of the mass culture, and taking into account the overall context of the music of the century. The author considers a number of features describing the mass musical culture as a typical formation of the mass culture. Also, it is concluded that the musical culture has internal stylistic unity arising from the reliance on the traditional and archaic musical layers. The article substantiates the need for application of the stylistic approach to further study of the mass musical culture.
