Considering the increasing relevance of historical imagology researches, the article examines the cultural aspect of the US-Russian relations by case study of the American musical life of the late XIX century, in particular, Tchaikovsky's tour in the USA. Celebrating with his concerts the opening of Carnegie Hall - the largest theatre having unique acoustics, the great Russian composer opened a new milestone in the perception of the American and Russian cultures. Music, being the spiritual value of the Russian culture, played significant role in expanding the spheres of communication between the two great powers, contributing to the economic and political rapprochement of international relations actors.
