Species list of the collection of perennial grasses from open ground of botanical garden of the Saint-Petersburg state university

The collection of herbaceous perennials at the St. Petersburg State Univer- sity Botanical Garden numbers at least 680 taxa. The collection contains 78 species of the flora of the North-West of European part of Russia. This number includes 35 species, listed in Red Books of Russian Federation, Leningrad Region, Baltic Rim and Eastern Fennoscandia. The list of rare and endangered species contains a total of 46 items. Lunaria rediviva is rare species for Leningrad Region. It has joined the ecosys- tem of the park zone of Botanical Garden, demonstrating successful growth and pro- liferation. The collection contains endemics of the Caucasus and Siberia. Among the ornamental plants, the largest in number of cultivars are Phlox paniculata – 54 varie- ties and Paeonia lactiflora – 20 varieties. The results of observations of the wintering of cultivars of Antirrhinum majus, Lavandula angustifolia, Penstemon hartwegii are presented.
