The aim of the study is to analyze specific peculiarities of the novels by the British writer M. Wickham, known as S. Kinsella, and the formation of the author's “conceptual profile”. Attention is drawn to S. Kinsella’s works which were analyzed as a system with a specifically organized semantic space. The method of comparative analysis and the structural-semantic method have been used. A meticulous study contributes to the identification of the author's paradigm reflected in her works. The role of the “chick lit” genre and the phenomenon of “post-feminism” have been scrutinized in the paper as well. The classification of the main author's lexemes has been given which ultimately contributed to the identification of two conceptual systems of S. Kinsella, one of which is more extensive and multifaceted. The study is of great interest both for a narrow circle of specialists in linguistic and literary spheres as well as for a wider circle of readers because, despite the general study of S. Kinsella’s novels, many of the semantic characteristics of the texts remain untouched and even unnoticed. The complexity of the studied material advances our understanding of the author’s “conceptual profile”. The practical value lies in the opportunity to use the results in such academic courses as cognitive linguistics, pragmalinguistics, sociolinguistics and semiotics.
