The work highlights the issue of significance of the concept of justice for the events and processes of the Ancient and Medieval times. Examined cases include: Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece and Medieval England. The work contains analysis of views on justice recorded in philosophical and historical works as well as real laws which date from Ancient and Medieval times. The views of justice underlie legal culture of people. The main conclusion of the work is that justice can only be achieved when there is a balance of the law and the legal culture. If such a balance is achieved, then there is sustainable development and sound functioning of the state. However, if it’s not and no reforms are being implemented, it leads to unrest and internal strife.
