We present the comparison of widely diverse quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the chemical composition of mine waters of Lvov - Volyn, Donetsk and Kuznetsk coal basins. Formation of the mine water is mainly due to groundwater aquifers, unsealed by mining activity. The subsurface waters from the coalfields are very similar. Consequently, in the Donets Basin acidic, alkaline and neutral, while in the Lviv-Volyn basin and Kuzbass mines only neutral waters are formed. Neutral mine water of Lvov-Volyn basin characterized by mineralization from 3 to 10 g / dm3, Donbass and Kuzbass - from 0.3 to 3.5 g / dm3. Sulphate ions dominante in mine waters of Donetsk coalfield, chlorine ions in Lviv-Volyn, and in Kuznetsk hydrogen coalfields ions, but among cations in all basins sodium ions are predominant. The similarity of the composition of mine water will allow to choose the optimal flow sheet cleaning facilities in Lviv - Volyn basin to reduce the harmful effects on the environment, taking into account existing and proposed schemes of water purification in the Donetsk and Kuznetsk coal basin.
