Comparative analysis of Rembrandt's “The Abraham's sacrifice” and “The return of the prodigal son”

In this paper, a comparison of Rembrandt's Harmens van Rijn's The Sacrifice of Abraham and The Return of the Prodigal Son is made in sequence. The following criteria were selected for comparison: history of creation of paintings, technical characteristics, colour and composition. The paper analysed Rembrandt's innovative approach to the interpretation of religious subjects, including the rejection of excessive theatricality of paintings.
