The Analysis of the Morphometric Characteristics of the Sites from the Second Quarter of the I Millennium AD in the Bolshoi Cheremshan River Basin

Бесплатный доступ

The paper analyzes morphometric characteristics of potential resource areas relating to two groups of sites left behind by the sedentary population which lived in the Middle Volga in the I millennium AD. It compares the characteristics of the Imenkovo culture sites located in the Sviyaga river basin (5th–7th centuries) and the sites of the Middle Volga variant of the Kiev culture situated in the Bolshoi Cheremshan basin (3rd–4th centuries). Features characteristic of these groups of sites were identified based on the analysis of site distribution density, models of site potential resource areas, estimates of slope landscapes of various exposures as well as distance-to-water analysis.
