Comparative analysis of the prospects for the development of Novosibirsk and Tomsk, and evaluation of their effects as regional centers

In this paper, the prospects for the development of Novosibirsk (as a city with a million population) and Tomsk (as a university city) are examined, and their influence as administrative centers on settlements in the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions is assessed. The potential of these cities to identify prospects for development was considered in the following aspects: industry of the region, export structure, planned budget, ecological situation, migration flows, employment structure of the population.
