The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of human self-organization in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The article substantiates the conclusion that in the epoch of the Middle Ages Christianity adopted a special type of spirituality and formed a new, higher level of human self-consciousness, which played a huge role in the history of mankind.
