Yellow water lily forms a terrestrial form upon the occurrence of the adverse condition (desiccation of habitat). Terrestrial form is flowering and is forming fruits. The fruits of these plants are smaller than the fruit of the aquatic forms and have fewer seeds per fruit. The ratio of actual to potential seed production (as a percent) is nearly constant.
