The article attempts to refute the paradigm shared by many people in Russian society, according to which the participation of the state in an economic institution impedes the implementation and development of market relations in society, and also to prove that the elements of the “market-state” dichotomy are not mutually exclusive. For this purpose, concepts such as “state intervention” and “state regulation” or “state influence” were separated. From the point of view of the political market, the state, which influences the economy through legislative and regulatory measures, acts as nothing more than one of the economic agents that satisfies the emerging demands of society within the framework of market relations. Thus, within the framework of the economic institute, the following types of socio-economic interaction between the state and society were considered: Soviet-type central planning, indicative planning, Keynesian model, monetarism, neoclassical theories, Keynesian-neoclassical synthesis, theory of libertarian paternalism. During the research, it was found that an example of state intervention in the economy can only be provided by centralized planning of the Soviet type, while other types of socio-economic interaction between the state and society serve as examples of state regulation carried out in response to its requests within the framework of a market economy.
