Within the framework of this work, several key aspects related to civil liability will be considered. An analysis of the legislation of the BRICS countries will be carried out, which will focus on the regulation of environmental damage. It is important to note that each country has its own unique approaches to this problem, which makes them interesting for comparative analysis. The article examines how different legal systems determine responsibility for environmental offenses and what mechanisms of compensation for damage are provided. A comparative analysis of approaches to liability in different countries will reveal both common features and differences in legal systems.
