Medium and long-term prospects for cooperation in the natural gas fields between China’s northeastern provinces and Russia’s Far East under the current international situation (until 2035)

The energy crisis caused by the current international situation will have a profound impact on the Russia’s natural gas exports. Russia’s economic development is dependent on energy exports, that is driving it to strengthen its position in the eastern market. On the other hand, China is currently undergoing a period of deepening energy transformation. Russia’s Far East border on three northeastern provinces of China, which undoubtedly hold great potential for the development of the natural gas consumption market. In order to increase the energy security and more effectively develop natural gas supply capacity in China and Russia, in the process of developing cooperation between the two countries in the gas sector, it is necessary to take into account the reliability of the resources involved, to carry out an in-depth analysis of the potential directions of trade flows of Russian natural gas, to prepare in advance measures to counter possible market changes.
