The Middle Volga region nobility of the first half of the XIX century in the post-Soviet historiography

The article examines the most significant aspects of the history of the Middle Volga region nobility of the first half of the 19th century, considered in the works of modern researchers. The author discusses the interest of historians to the development of aristocratic manors, estate authorities, evolution of landownership. It is concluded that further study of the nobility history has a promising outlook.
