The article touches upon the problem of manipulative capabilities of the media affecting public consciousness. The mass media in modern society have an impact on human life, acting not only as a way of transmitting information, but also as a manipulator, instilling certain values. The author analyzes specific methods of manipulative influence of the media on public consciousness. It is concluded that it is necessary to "filter" information by an individual in order to resist manipulative influence from the media.
