S.S. Neustruyev is the organizer of department of soil science

It is given major stages of S.S. Neustruev's work - the theorist of soil science famous geologist and one of the most talented physical geographer from the Dokuchaev school. Neustruev SS, being the creator of the Soil Science Department of the Omsk Institute of Agriculture, for the first time studied the features of soil erosion stages using the example of Siberian soils. The article is based on materials of fragmentary information about his scientific activity, published in various sources. It is shown his unique capacity for synthesis, a special ceaseless role of soil-geographical, cadastral and geological researches realized by him. Scientific views of S.S. Neustruev about a joint de velopment of geomorphology and soil, their interconnection have identified approaches to de velop regional Russian and global soil classifications and to study ecological and biosphere soil functions.
