The formation of archives in the Orenburg region

The paper is devoted to the organization of the first Orenburg historical archive at the end of the XIX century. The research is based on the recently found documents from the State archive of the Orenburg region which are introduced to scholarly community for the first time. The author comes to conclusion about the outstanding organizational and methodical role by Nikolay Kalachev and Archaeological institute in the creation of the Orenburg archive.
