The making of Central Asia and Russian integration projects

After the collapse of the Soviet Union the new region - Central Asia - and a new system of international relations appeared. Ambiguity of the ways of the future development of the region led to the situation when non-regional actors such as Russia, China, US, EU and Turkey extended their influence on the creation of the development models for the region. The author concludes that Russia should do its best to use its advantages in reaching the desired aims.
