The article provides a brief analysis of the period of the formation of the Soviet periodical press in 1918-1919 in Simbirsk province. The organizational features of the process of publishing the press in the province, as well as the distribution of the press and propaganda materials as published by the Bolshevik Party in Simbirsk, as well as the Bolsheviks controlled by the Bolshevik Party from other provinces and central publishers are considered. The October Revolution and the Civil War that began soon became a serious test for the Soviet government and demanded from it the creation of a broad network of periodicals for campaigning and broadcasting its position to the population. The article gives examples of the difficulties encountered by the Simbirsk cell of the RSDLP (b) - RCP (b) in the process of establishing a regular publication of both its press and propaganda literature. Drawing on archival documents, the author describes the work of the Simbirsk Gubernia Executive Committee of the RCP (B.) On the distribution of printed publications, the struggle for the hearts and minds of the local population in order to strengthen the power of the Bolsheviks in the difficult first years after the seizure of power in the province and the cooperation of the Simbirsk cell of the Bolsheviks with other provinces controlled by the RCP (b).
