Formation and development of soviet cinema in Saratov province in the 1920's

October events of 1917 and following transformations of the Soviet power in the field of culture, have changed the understanding of the essence of cinema, defined its role in the development of the Soviet society and a new person. The cinematograph was considered by the authorities as a means of enlightenment and education of people, agitation and propaganda. On the basis of archival materials, the article reviews the questions of cinematograph development in Saratov province in the first decade of Soviet power. The biggest challenge in the development of cinema was the process of building and advertising of cinemas in towns and villages which remained relevant in the 1920-s.
