The formation of the classical theory of mind under the interpretation of Richard Rorty

Since the mid-twentieth century the classical theory of mind undergoes a total revision by analytic philosophers. We can see the emerge of the paradigm which criticizes the traditional views on such issues as consciousness and cognition. Richard Rorty was among the first to identify this paradigm, its boundaries, and the main focus. This article examines the key moments in the history of the Western philosophy that, according to the American philosopher, led to the formation of the classical model of mind.
