Researchers divide the feminist social and political movement into stages, or “waves”. This movement was based on the ideas of an unfair organization of society in relation to one of the sexes. The presence of a political program, which can be implemented on the premise of the mass scale and good organization of its participants, along with an ideology is one of the features of feminist movement. The article studies each stage of the struggle of women for an equal status in society and the corresponding idealogical basis, describes its dynamics - peaks, troughs or stabilization. An analysis of the feminist "waves" allows us to assess the quantitative and qualitative changes in society - economy, policy, science, and culture that occurred as a result of an active struggle for the equality of women based on the ideas of feminist thinkers.
