Kronstadt actively developed in the 18th century, turning into the most powerful military fortress in the north-west of Russia. The Baltic fleet was based in the city, so many sailors lived. To meet the religious needs of the military, by order of Peter I, the first churches appeared in Kronstadt. However, during their construction, various financial and administrative difficulties often arose. The author explores the process of construction and development of temples, their role in the unification of parishioners and moral education. An analysis of the historical experience in the formation of temples for military personnel is especially relevant today, when the state is taking certain steps towards supporting the realization of the rights of military personnel to worship.
