The paper considers the Central Amur State Fisheries Trust activity in 1935-1936. The analysis of the enterprise’s work is carried out in accordance with the goals and objectives that the USSR leadership set for the country’s fishing industry in the period under review. In particular, one of the main goals was to solve the food problem. The authors estimate the role of the Central Amur State Fisheries Trust in attracting people to the region and solving socio-economic problems in the Far East. The materials of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Municipal Archive served the main source for the research. They include statistical data of output and finance plans and reports on the activity of the trust itself as well as of other fish factories. It is concluded that the problems solved in the 1930s in the fishing industry of the Far East in many respects coincide with modern problems, and, therefore, the Soviet experience in dealing with complex issues can be applied in the present day realities.
