The article considers the establishment of the Soviet state and society from the standpoint of the concept of socio-political order. The logic of the Soviet nation building was expressed in the cooperative interaction of social order and chaos in reformist and revolutionary transformations. We draw attention to the fact that the revolution of 1917, the civil war and the political struggle of the 1920s became a kind of points of sociopolitical bifurcation in which the Soviet state order was established. The article argues that the Soviet alternative win in the climate of societal crises due to its compliance with the mentality and tasks of the survival of Russian society in difficult historical conditions. The activity of the Soviet leaders and the Bolshevik Party in the face of social catastrophe proved to be more effective than liberal slogans and ideas. In the final part of the article, we have emphasized that underestimation of alternatives corresponding to the synergetic patterns of society's development at the bifurcation point can lead to social catastrophes, as demonstrated by the events of Perestroika and 1991.
