Statistical estimation of the demographic situation territories on the example of the Sakhalin area

This article examines the main indicators that characterize the demographic situation in the Russian Federation, the Far East Federal District and the Sakhalin Region. The study is aimed at identifying the problems that exist in this area. For the analysis, the demographic situation of these territories is estimated and compared from 2010 to 2017, a statistical estimate of the population and natural population growth is provided. In addition, data on migration are considered as a phenomenon that has a large impact on population dynamics. Also, the article presents possible reasons for population change, and a forecast of the demographic trend is made until 2020.
