The statistical monitoring of the comprehensive process of «Xiaokang» (little prosperity) society building

This article presents the statistical data of China, reflecting the comprehensive process of building a society «Xiaokang» during the period 2000-2010. Basically, data is presented in six major areas: economic development, social harmony, quality of life, democracy and law, culture and education, resources and environmental protection. Statistical indicators in these areas have different amplitude rise, moreover, there are significant regional differences. The main purpose of this monitoring is collecting essential indicators of social and economic development. These indicators are required for the effective analysis of the political, economic and social situation in China. The statistics allows to reveal the main features of a «Xiaokang» society and outline the prospects for achieving the cherished goal for the majority of the Chinese people.
