This article discusses the issues of statistical analysis of the economic development of the regions of the Russian Federation. The relevance of the topic is confirmed by the high level of uneven economic development in the regional context, including the various contributions of industry, trade, construction, agriculture to the potential of the country’s regions. The purpose of the work is a comprehensive statistical study of the indicators of the economic development of regions. The solution of the set tasks is carried out in the form of a cumulative assessment of the economic development of the subjects of the Russian Federation with the help of target indicators for the development of the regions of the Russian Federation. The paper uses statistical methods of time series analysis and forecasting, analysis of territorial distribution series, and the method of classification of multidimensional observations - cluster analysis. Conclusions are made about the significant variation of key indicators of economic development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. There is a positive trend in the main indicators of economic development. A multidimensional grouping of Russian regions based on cluster analysis showed that in 2019, compared to 2010, the level of economic development in most regions of the Russian Federation increased. Statistical analysis of the main indicators of economic development, as well as the formulated conclusions, can serve as a tool for analysis and forecasting and are the most important guidelines for economic policy in the subjects of the Russian Federation.
