The statistics of resettlement movement to the Tobolsk province in the late XIX - early XX centuries

The article analyses the statistics on the scale of migration in the Tobolsk province at the turn of the XX century. It is noted, that resolution of the agrarian question in Russia was hampered by a shortage of land in the central regions of the country. This situation led to the organization of the of large-scale migration to Siberia by the authorities, as a result, the Tobolsk province developed rapidly. The author states that there was a new stage of development in the region: entrepreneurship and trade revived, new schools and hospitals were built, credit institutions began to operate, peasants began to introduce advanced farming cultures.
