Statcom as a means of addressing issues of energy saving

The presence of reactive power and asymmetric load adversely affects the operation of the power supply system in terms of energy saving. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the installation of devices in industrial enterprises, which will reduce the negative impact of these factors. The article proposes to use such a combined solution as a static synchronous reactive power compensator of the STATCOM type. The scheme of connection of the device to the network, its internal structure of control system with the analysis of its work in the specified conditions of existence of negative factors is presented. The analysis showed that the control system copes well with the task and the use of STATCOM is an appropriate solution. The study of the device to compensate for the reactive power of the STATCOM type showed its full suitability in industrial enterprises for the rational use of non-renewable natural resources spent on the generation of electric energy and not only, and also gives an economic effect, which is to reduce electricity fees due to the lack of active losses and reactive power.
