The article is focused on a cinema club as an element of the cultural and household network of the “socialist city” in the late 1920s. As an example, a film club in the social city of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant was analyzed. The objective of the publication is to consider a cinema club as an architectural and social space. To accomplish this task, the article explores several key aspects. First of all, it is the specificity of film distribution in a workers' club; functions and tasks of the cinema club; features of the planning organization and architectural solutions of the cinema club building; principles of spatial placement. As a result, the thesis on the multifunctional purpose of the film club is presented. Demonstration of films was not its only form of activity, and the commercial task was not decisive. The cinema club was one of the centers of attraction (spatial and social) and a focus of social activity and communication.
