Stylistic commentary and encyclopaedical remark in explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language

Statement of the problem. The article discusses a number of questions, concerning the reflection of stylistic commentaries and encyclopaedical remarks given in the explanatory dictionaries of the contemporary Russian language. Purpose of the article is to investigate and describe the reasons of stylistic commentaries and encyclopaedical remarks inclusion in dictionaries of the Russian language, to show some principles of selection, the ways of description and differences (in this description) between the basic dictionaries. Materials and methods of the study are based on the comparative method, on contextual and lexicographic analysis. Research results: Investigation shows that stylistic commentaries and encyclopaedical remarks given in the explanatory dictionaries of the contemporary Russian language are not unified, and are used inconsistently. Conclusions in accordance with the purpose of the article. Generally the system of stylistic commentaries and encyclopaedical remarks given in the explanatory dictionaries of the contemporary Russian language is good. But for rising the quality of the dictionaries it is necessary, on the one hand, to unify this system of stylistic commentaries and remarks and, on the other hand, to use them more logically. The author's contribution consist in general and detailed study of the material (all the basic explanatory dictionaries of the contemporary Russian language), which was not studied earlier.
