The article deals with the development of and reconsidering the stoic social ethics in the works of the Renaissance philosophers. The author analyzes the ethic prerequisites for the concepts of the centralized bureaucratic state developed at the turn of medieval and modern times. The paper studies the ideas about the nature of the relationships between government and civic population, the content of their mutual moral obligations.
