The history of artificial intelligence, although still only a few decades old, is already rich in dramatic ups and equally dramatic downs. The article analyzes the factors that caused the problems in the development of artificial intelligence in the twentieth century. The main current problems of artificial intelligence are identified, and on the basis of the data obtained an attempt is made to assess the possibility of new critical declines in interest in the technology in the near future. Cycles of surge of interest in the development of technology are described, the author has highlighted and described several historical cycles of development of artificial intelligence. For example, today's closed-loop economy can use artificial intelligence to optimize waste processing and resource management. At the same time, machine learning algorithms can help optimize waste collection schedules or predict the volume of waste in certain areas. In addition, artificial intelligence can be used to automatically sort waste and determine the most efficient way to recycle it. All of this can lead to a more efficient use of resources and reduce the negative impact on the environment. However, potential risks associated with the development of artificial intelligence must be considered. For example, the automation of processes can lead to the loss of jobs and the unequal distribution of benefits among different populations. Therefore, the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in a closed-loop economy must take into account social and environmental aspects and ensure an equitable distribution of benefits.
