Dental status and awareness about oral diseases prevention in students of pedagogical university

The article analyzes the results of dental examination and questioning on the etiology and prevention of caries and periodontal disease of fourth and fifth year students form the faculty of preschool and primary education of a Pedagogical University in Samara. We surveyed 56 students; 46 of them were also examined by a dentist. Mean age of study participant was 21.6 years; all of them were females. The prevalence of dental caries reached 93.6%; mean intensity of caries (DMF index) was 6: D = 2.54, M = 0.28, and F = 3.17. Mean oral hygiene index was 1.9, which indicates poor quality of oral hygiene.
