The paper analyzes the strategic interests of Russia and China in the Arctic. It is one of the most promising and underdeveloped regions of the world. Russia, as an Arctic state, has its own interests in the northern territories and implements a policy aimed at strengthening its leading positions in the development of the Arctic. China, on the other hand, considers its participation in projects for its development as an opportunity to establish sustainable linkages with the Arctic region, and here the comprehensive strategic partnership of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China acquires a new shape. In particular, both countries benefit economically from the development of the northern sea routes, which will reduce the delivery time of goods from Asia to Europe and vice versa. It is noted that joint Arctic projects make it possible to intensify the development of the Northern Sea Route communications and ensure environmentally friendly development of natural resources. In addition, the mutual interest in cooperation is due to the difficult international situation.
